Cylinder Tracking System
General Air Service and Supply has developed
and fully implemented a computerized, serial number and
delivery verification system, designed for tracking compressed
gas cylinders. Our system offers some of the finest features
available anywhere in the Compressed Gas Distribution
Industry.
One of the cylinder industry's greatest
problem areas, and a source of irritation for cylinder
customers, has been inaccurate, unverifiable, cylinder
delivery and rental invoices. Common "human errors," such
as those generated by erroneous input in daily cylinder
exchanges, transposition of ships and returns on the delivery
ticket, and those generated by loss or theft at customer
facilities, have been a serious concern to us for years.
Our cylinder control system, utilizing bar code identification,
and direct computer input of the ship and return cylinder
serial numbers, realistically addresses this problem.
This system tracks each cylinder individually through
our plant, to your facilities and back again.
Each cylinder has affixed to either the
neck ring or cylinder identification collar two bar code
stencil numbers. These stencil numbers are alpha numeric
and five digits in length. This stencil number directly
crosses to the serial number stamped on the shoulder of
the cylinder. We have chosen to use the bar codes stencil
number instead of the serial numbers stamped into the
shoulder of the cylinder because these serial numbers
are variable in length and have no fixed alpha numeric
relationship. With the five digit stencil number, we can
use a number of computer cross checks to further insure
the accuracy of the bar code scans and dramatically increase
the accuracy of our cylinder tracking system and resultant
cylinder rental billing.
Misplaced Cylinder Policy
If a cylinder is misplaced or stolen, contact
us and we will limit your liability to the replacement
cost of the cylinder. This cylinder will then be flagged
using the bar code number. If the cylinder is returned
within 18 months, a partial credit may be applicable.
